(nit) the first and second sentence are essentially saying the same thing, no? I imagine the second could be dropped

you're not wrong, but it's the same content in every repo (except addons, addons-server, and addons-frontend) so you can fight it out with Mat who approved mozilla/web-ext#3810 😄
