New Pattern: Transitive Vouch-Chain Trust

Category: Security & Safety

This pattern describes how autonomous agents can build trust networks through cryptographically signed vouches that propagate transitively along chains, inspired by the isnad (chain of transmission) methodology from hadith scholarship.

Why this is novel relative to existing patterns

  • Soulbound Identity Verification covers non-transferable credentials and state continuity for individual agents.
  • Zero-Trust Agent Mesh covers network-level trust enforcement.
  • Transitive Vouch-Chain Trust fills the gap between these: how trust propagates through a network of agents without a central authority, using signed vouch chains with configurable decay.

The pattern is general-purpose — the write-up focuses on the mechanism, with known implementations listed in the references section.

Checklist

  • One pattern per PR
  • Under 200 lines
  • Public references included
  • Front-matter complete
  • No promotional language
  • Pattern-first, implementation-second
