Create Own Signals With VHPI (Or Other API)

I asked for this already some years ago.

Still I'm convinced that this would expand the capabilities of external simulation frameworks dramatically.

Are you looking to have vhpi_create implemented, or is this a different request?

I would like to have a function similar to what Modelsim provides in their FLI:

mti_CreateSignal( name, region, type )

Afak vhpi_create is not forseen to create new signals.

For me it would fine to just expose the "right" functions in the simulation runtime that one
can call in the shared library via FFI.

From the LRM:

vhpi_create: Creates an object of class processStmt, driver, driverCollection, or anyCollection; or appends an object to a collection.

vhpiHandleT vhpi_create(vhpiClassKindT kind, vhpiHandleT handle1, vhpiHandleT handle2);

The kind argument specifies the class of object to be created. If the value of kind is vhpiDriverK, handle1 shall refer to an object of class basicSignal, and handle2 shall either refer to an object of class processStmt whose IsForeign property has the value vhpiTrue or be NULL. The function creates an object of class driver associated with the object referred to by handle1. The value of the IsForeign property of the created object is vhpiTrue. If handle2 is not NULL, the object of class driver is also associated with the object referred to by handle2; otherwise the object of class driver is not associated with a target object of class processStmt.

I think this says it can create a signal.
