Resolves #3883

❓ Type of change

  • 📖 Documentation (updates to the documentation or readme)
  • 🐞 Bug fix (a non-breaking change that fixes an issue)
  • 👌 Enhancement (improving an existing functionality like performance)
  • ✨ New feature (a non-breaking change that adds functionality)

📚 Description

refineDatabaseConfig resolved a relative SQLite filename with new URL(filename, import.meta.url).pathname. URL.pathname stays percent-encoded, so a project under /Users/me/My Projects wrote its database to a new /Users/me/My%20Projects/... tree. db0's better-sqlite3 connector creates parent directories, so nothing errors. The database just ends up outside the project.

This wraps the pathname in decodeURIComponent. I chose that over fileURLToPath so the runtime file doesn't gain a node:url import (it currently has none, and it's bundled for every preset). It also keeps the existing Windows branch working: the decoded path still starts with /C:/, which the win32 check already strips.

The new test, test/unit/database.server.filename.test.ts, loads the production adapter path with _importMeta_ pointing into /tmp/My Projects/Café #1/100% ready/server/, then checks the path handed to the connector:

  • a plain relative filename resolves with spaces, Unicode, # and % decoded
  • an encoded filename (literal%2520name.sqlite) decodes once, to literal%20name.sqlite
  • absolute filenames are unchanged

Without the fix, the first two fail with /tmp/My%20Projects/Caf%C3%A9%20%231/100%25%20ready/.... With it, all pass. The test is skipped on Windows because its expected paths are POSIX.

Local checks: ESLint on the changed files, full vitest run test/unit (36 files, 409 passed, 1 skipped). vue-tsc --noEmit reports the same 7 errors as unmodified main, none in these files.

📝 Checklist

  • I have updated the documentation accordingly. (No docs change needed.)

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

A relative sqlite `filename` was resolved with `new URL(...).pathname`,
which stays percent-encoded. Projects under a path with a space,
non-ASCII character, `#` or `%` wrote their database into a new literal
`%20` directory tree instead of the build output.

📝 Walkthrough

For relative SQLite filenames, refineDatabaseConfig now decodes the URL pathname after resolving it. Absolute filenames and :memory: retain their existing handling. New unit tests cover paths with encoded characters, %2520, and absolute filenames.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Preserve literal percent escapes that are not valid UTF-8.

A relative SQLite filename such as ./literal%FF.sqlite is a valid filesystem filename. The new regex preserves %FF, but decodeURIComponent then throws URIError before the configured database adapter receives the path. The previous code passed the URL pathname to the adapter without decoding, so this is a regression.

Use a decoder that decodes valid UTF-8 escapes while preserving invalid percent sequences.

UTF-8 escapes are decoded while invalid percent-encoded byte sequences remain
literal instead of throwing. Keep the existing absolute-path and `:memory:`
