Network Conigfuration
##Initial Configuration The network functionality of CHOP-fMRU Assitant can streamline the tasks of accessing an MRU for analysis and uploading results images back to PACS, but network configuration must be performed.
Assistance may be needed from a PACS administrator. Most PACS will only perform network communications with known network objects. Your PACS administrator may need to enter your computer's IP address or network name in association with a unique AETitle. Your PACS administrator will also need to provide you with the PACS IP address or network name, the PACS AETitle, and the preferred port for communication. Any program that performs network communications uses these parameters, so your PACS administrator will be familiar with these.
Once these values are known, save them in CHOP-fMRU Assistant.
- In the menu, select Settings→Network Settings
- A new form will open. To insert a new PACS settings, push the New button at the bottom of the form.
- Another new form will open. Input the PACS settings.
- Save, and this form will close.
- Make sure the correct PACS settings are selected from the drop down menu.
- Hit OK and return to the main form.
When PACS settings are changed, the software will attempt a simple C-ECHO command and show the result in the bottom task bar of the main window.
##Problems Downloading Studies It is common for the network test and for searches for patients, studies, and series to work well. Downloading studies can often be problematic. You may need help from your PACS administrator, but many common problems include:
###Incorrect Network Configuration The most common cause for a failed PACS download is an incorrect network configuration. Check the network configuration for errors.
- Ports 104 and 11112 are reserved for DICOM communications. Generally, both the client and server ports should be set to 104 unless your PACS administrator suggests otherwise.
- Your AETitle and IP address must be registered with your PACS. If your administrator has not registered your AETitle or if your IP address has changed, downloads will not work.
###Firewall A firewall may be allowing your computer to establish a connection with PACS but preventing PACS from establishing a connection with your computer, which is necessary to download studies. If temporarily disabling your firewall resolves the problem, you will need to add a firewall exception to allow CHOP-fMRU Assistant to receive information on the port you've set in the network configuration.
###Other DICOM Software If you are running other DICOM software on the same computer, it may be occupying the required port.
