Equity Tracker Process Overview

Welcome to the equity tracker project!

There is a lot of information in the GitHub Wiki to get you started. Please reach out to Brian, Mary, or the Equity Tracker project team if you have any questions or are confused about how to proceed.

Process Overview:

  1. Data visualization and drafting of insights: Data analyst will obtain the data set related to their indicator. They will run some quality checks, descriptive statistics, and transform the data as needed. Once the data is in the correct form, they will generate 3 visuals (regional map, column chart, and line chart) and draft key take aways
  2. Data review: Another member in the Equity Tracker project team (in data) will review the analyst's data analysis/interpretations and edit/add comments as needed. This step may require some discussion between the data reviewer and the analyst.
  3. Drafting webpage: Webpage developer will take the finalized draft (after all comments and edits have been resolved between data reviewer and analyst) and migrate the material to a draft webpage
  4. Planning review: A member of the planning team that is familiar with the theme/indicator will review the draft webpage. They will record any comments or edits in the designated form. This step may require some discussion between the planning reviewer and the analyst and/or webpage developer.
  5. Update draft webpage: Webpage developer will take any edits/comments made by the planning reviewer and integrate them into the draft webpage

Broad order of operations for analyst:

  1. Speak with Brian to discuss the theme/indicator that you will be working on
  2. Review the Data Generation and Visualization instructions on the GitHub Wiki to become familiar with the process
  3. Update the last tab (Production & Review) in the spreadsheet on Teams (Teams: Equity Tracker > General > Files > Indicator Selection Process > IndicatorResearch_08222023)
  4. Start process outlined in the Data Generation and Visualization - instructions on the GitHub Wiki
  5. If you run into issues, review Encountering issues? or Updates and correspondence
  6. Start process outlined in the Review Process and Webpage Development instructions on the GitHub Wiki
