A full installation guide & video can be found here.
The HUD wiki contains a wealth of information on installing the HUD as well as customizing it. However, feel free to reach out in the Discord if you have any other questions.
- Find your TF2 install location

To see if you placed it in the correct place, we'll use the
info.vdf
file as an example. The path to the
info.vdf
file should be:
../tf/custom/budhud/info.vdf
NOT
../tf/custom/budhud/budhud/info.vdf
This is the most common mistake people make when installing a hud.
budhud includes a shell script (budhud Updater.ps1
) in the base directory that will allow you to do a few different things, such as verify you installed the HUD correctly or update the default game files after a TF2 update.
To open this file, you need to Right click the file and select Run with PowerShell
.
Check out the wiki for more information.
If you would like to install and customize budhud (as well as other huds) quickly and easily, check out the TF2HUD Editor created by CriticalFlaw and Revan. You can read more about it here.
