External Wi Fi Antenna

- U.FL to RP-SMA cable + 3 dBi 2.4GHz antenna
- 1/4-inch drill bit and power drill
- Metal file
- Hacksaw
- Disassemble the bottom of the XiaoFang camera by removing the two silver screws. Remove the bottom by gently prying it out of the camera.
- Disassemble and remove the back/speaker of the camera by carefully separating it from the sides.
- Detach the speaker cable from the printed circuit board.
- Detach the existing internal wi-fi antenna from the printed circuit board.
- Remove the two black screws from the speaker compartment.
- Remove the back from the speaker compartment.
- Remove the speaker from the speaker compartment.
- Using diagonal cutters (wire cutters) nibble away the circular ridge that is the upper right-hand corner of the frame holding the speaker in place.
- Drill a 1/4-inch hole in the upper right-hand corner of the camera back.
- File away one corner of the RP-SMA antenna connector, and round it off as much as possible. This rounded corner will fit extremely closely to the corner of the speaker.
- Using a hacksaw, cut two straight lines in the top edge of the camera back, above where the antenna connector will be placed. Use a pair of pliers to grasp the tab and remove it, or use a box cutter to cut it before removal.
- Reinstall the speaker into the camera back.
- Install the RP-SMA antenna connector in the camera back, and tighten the washer and lock nut on the outside.
- Drill a 1/4-inch or smaller hole in the upper-right corner of the speaker compartment back. Pass the U.FL connector of the antenna cable through this hole.
- Reinstall the speaker compartment back. Reinstall both screws, taking care to route the speaker wires through the channel in the lower left of the speaker compartment.
- Reattach the speaker connector to the printed circuit board.
- Attach the U.FL connector from the antenna cable to the printed circuit board.
- Loop any excess antenna cable beneath the camera, being careful not to block the mini-SD card slot or the reset button.
- Reinstall the bottom of the camera. Reapply both silver screws to hold the bottom in place.
- Attach the external wi-fi antenna to the RP-SMA connector on the rear of the camera.
