Version 1.5
Version 1.5 of The Chosen Challenge is now available. To use it, place it in your datapacks folder or drag it onto the data packs screen when starting a singleplayer world. This version is compatible with versions 1.18.2.
Changes in 1.5:

- Glow ink sacs are now considered twice as hard to get
Version 1.4 - Update to Minecraft 1.17.x
Version 1.4 of The Chosen Challenge is now available. To use it, place it in your datapacks folder or drag it onto the data packs screen when starting a singleplayer world. This version should be compatible with all 1.17.x versions.
Changes in 1.4:
- New sacrifice items:
- Copper ingot (same difficulty as iron ingot)
- Glow lichen (same difficulty as gun powder)
- Glow ink sac (same difficulty as mushroom stew)
- Fix some aspects of the world continuing to update during pause mode
Version 1.3 - The Elimination Mode Update
Version 1.3 of The Chosen Challenge is now available. To use it, place it in your datapacks
folder or drag it onto the data packs screen when starting a singleplayer world. This version should be compatible with all 1.16.x versions but might show up as too new for the older ones.
Changes in version 1.3:
- New and improved altar looks
- All altars now include a lodestone
- All players now get a compass at the start of the game
- Fixes for rules text
- New help functionality in menu
- Added two new modes:
- In Competitive mode the difficulty increases every day regardless of success or failure. This guarantees that the seed produces a unique string of item requests that is always the same.
- In Elimination mode, the game is a race - only the first team to get an item sacrifice is spared, everyone else takes a two heart maximum health penalty.
- There is now a sound effect for failing the task
- The game can now be paused and unpaused using /trigger Pause and /trigger Unpause
- Updated to the latest pack version
Version 1.2
Changes in this release:
- Upgraded to Minecraft 1.16. Added some new 1.16 items to the item list.
- Completely rebalanced the item list. Items now have a base difficulty and a repeat difficulty, making sacrifices of multiple items more balanced.
- Added a difficulty setting with 3 modes: Easy, Medium and Hard. The default is Hard, which most closely corresponds to the previous versions of the pack.
To play, drop the zip file into the datapacks screen while creating a world. Then click on the menu items that appear in your chat window to start the game. For a more thorough explanation, use the Game Rules option or read the Readme file.
