Hey, wouldn’t it be better to add another console at the cargo desk, so that the crew could come up (and it would be the exact same request console like all other departments have now), select a budget—for example: Cargo, Security, Medical, Engineering, Service, etc...

In short: Instead of running around, just add another console at the cargo desk, identical to the departmental consoles, where you could choose a budget yourself and create an order receipt right there. In the future, this would be a great foundation for implementing crew-specific bank budgets.

Behind the desk, there would still be the same console as now.

If this idea were implemented, it would be cool to also add the option to place a QM’s or other department head’s digital stamp on the receipt before handing it over to the cargo desk. They would mark it as approved/denied, and the order would automatically be approved or rejected. This way, you could add more optional bureaucracy, which would increase social interaction, but it would still remain optional. After all, instead of the QM physically stamping the receipt and then approving it, they could still just approve it through the console by processing the receipt.

I think, while we’re at it, we could even add digital stamps in general. If there’s no digital stamp from the department head, the order can’t be fully approved. But that might be overkill...
