The Blink spell has many problems that render a lot of attempts at using it a gamble;
there are many situations that are found unpredictable and might mean a premature end of wizard RP due to the mechanic not working as intended;
these situations all fall back on the spell not letting the player teleport to a spot that doesn't show any difference from another spot they can teleport onto.
The main solution I've seen through testing would be to unify the Blink Spell with the Katana Dash the Ninja role has:
the Blink user encounters a lot of confusing situations that don't make immediate sense, and that don't seem to be documented;
the Ninja instead doesn't seem to encounter any of these so far, being able to teleport anywhere the Wizard has instead problems with (so long as the character can see the spot).
(Referencing issue #34699 "Blink + Dash need combining", cited in multiple other issues, and reopening the discourse of closed PR #34597 "MagicSystem needs rewriting from the ground up")
Wizard's Blink
Blinking from behind some sort of obstacle
-
like windows/the disposals chute here:
the issue here being that all of these tiles look no different from eachother, but there is something invisible in front of the player that makes you require a different angle of approach
-
any sort of approach at an angle is not possible unless you know exactly what entity could be the cause of this, both from inside and outside
-
issues that might look like distance are instead there because of some hidden bug or mechanic
