Our drive comes from wanting to give developers a tool that boosts their productivity and enjoyment when working on the command line, the beating heart of so much development work.
We are excited to foster a community around the project and work closely with early adopters to shape mterm into the ultimate modern terminal environment.
Quick note: when I say "we" and "our" - it's just the community of developers that contribute to this project ๐ - there is no organization behind this tool and we plan to stay open source. Another way you can help see this project's success is to take some of these issues and help contribute ๐
So what is mterm? mterm is a cross-platform command-line terminal with a big vision*. The current trajectory is a cloud platform to share scripts, plugins and terminal hacks to be used in mterm and beyond. We have some cool things to demo here but will need to ensure we can afford the small cloud cost before we open this up.
Contributions will directly support the ongoing development of mterm's cloud infrastructure and the addition of powerful new features to make it an indispensable part of people's daily development flow. We want to build a cloud platform around this command line tools that allow for features such as
- remote execution from a control panel
- sharing plugins, scripts and secrets with shortcodes (aka
import Zd991s
-> imports a script) - remote viewing of execution from the terminal -> for dev collaboration
So yes: some of this vision is going to cost some money to see come to life. The good news?! - it's not much. The group behind the tools have the system's architecture knowledge to any little contribution and make any little bit stretch as far as possible.
