Resolves the question "why is there something rather than nothing?" by showing that "nothing" is expressible but not executable — a string the universe can contain but cannot run. Consistency is identified as the boundary condition beneath which no explanation can reach. Includes a short operational version that reaches the same conclusion from the structure of quantification alone.
