Further improvements to the SteamDeck:

  • should no longer confuse the controller axes and buttons
  • panning with the right joystick should work now
  • fixed some cases where keys where shown incorrectly
  • allowed more screenspace for dialogs since keys are never shown

Other bugfixes:

  • fixed mousewheel in SDL2
  • fixed the generation range for Strong Wind and jump orb effects in alternate tilings

Further improvements to the SteamDeck:

  • use SteamDeck buttons instead of relying on the layout
  • fixed some problems with touchscreens (no double events, correct position)
  • an option to allow touch to get information / drag, other than move
  • an option to split 'quest screen' and 'main menu' into separate screens
  • splitting 'general graphics', 'colors & aura', and the help screen into more subscreens
  • fixed the problem where the screen pans down on SteamDeck (and other similar popular controlers)
  • "search for config" screen now has onscreen keyboard
  • in turn-based multiplayer, deadzones are now >0 by default (so it works on SteamDeck), and also an option to force 'accepting' directions
  • an option to display help about OSM orbs in touch interfaces

Other improvements:

  • fixed the help button in the main menu
  • you can no longer push statues/wood-trees onto Grat Walls and other 'do not touch' walls
  • when you have Orb of Aether you can now enter BSOC/trees if they cannot be pushed behind
  • extensions to the formula parser (see the aperiodic-pentagons.tes sample)
  • disable message wrapping if not appropriate

  • Fix Free Fall crashing in horodisk land structure
  • Fix crash when Orbs of Choice, Space, and Safety interact

Added some improvements for the SteamDeck:

  • the RETURN key now moves in the current direction
  • reorganized some setting menus so that there is not too many options on the screen
  • added a "dialog font scale" option to display larger menus
  • added an option to not automatically interpret joystick buttons as movement commands
  • the autojoy option is now off by default
  • fixed a crash in some situations
  • add an option to never/always display keyboard help in dialogs
  • better default settings on the SteamDeck

(This is for use with the official HyperRogue layout for SteamDeck on Steam. If you do not use the Steam version on SteamDeck for whatever reason, you should probably map your favorite button on the controller to the '`' key -- this will move the character in the current joystick direction, and select menu options.)

Other changes:

  • new system for debug logs
  • in shmup, tortoise no longer die after 3 hits
  • fixed shHalfDisk and shDiskSegment shapes in spherical geometry
  • fix the "lastexplore" value getting set to the turn/knives thrown count instead of "shmup::curtime" when enabling the map editor in shmup, and when playing the fifteen+4 puzzle in shmup (thanks to @ohlordhebacc)
  • make the "switch ghost timer" cheat display shmup::curtime instead of the turn/knives thrown count in shmup (thanks to @ohlordhebacc)

  • add a setting to preserve wparam and landparam when changing walls and lands with the map editor
  • fix edge cases in Hell/CR3 unlock
  • circle the item the Orb of Space is about to collect
  • fix freeze if Ancient Jewelry ends up on a tile with a large landparam

Lots of bugfixes in this update! Some new features too.

New features:

a new feature to create quotient orbifolds for tessellations loaded from tes files (or converted into that format) (experiment with geometry -> quotient)
in screenshots->centering, list all viewpoints

Bug fixes:

fixed frogging grimoires
fixed the 3D models for spaceship, bunny, and player ratling
fixed Red Rock graphical bug
fixed the three-coloring of bitruncated {4,4}
bitruncated {4,4} and {4,6} are now known to be three-colored
fixed the bug with the bulls being too enraged about crossbows
fixed a rare bug with apeirogonal tes files falsely pretending to be football colorable
make the Orb of Earth/Earth Elemental not remove limestone walls in Irradiated Field and the Mercury River subland, and make OoEarth create a trail of mercury in the mercury river subland (thanks to @ohlordhebacc )
Shmup fixes:

the player can now be stunned now (using Orb of Stunning)
fixed the bug with Phasing deleting monsters
the killer is now stated correctly when killing yourself with Orb of Mind
Orb of Winter now correnctly collects ice-encased items
fixed the Camelot message (and cape reward) on exit
fixed some inconsistencies with Orb of Speed
fixed Orb of Energy not improving some orbs
Orb of Change should work now
orbs that did nothing now add extra lives (Woods, Plague, Chaos, Impact)

make Orb of Magnetism and Curse of Repulsion leave saved tortoises alone

The Android version has been updated, and a conformal egg model (like in the game Innards).

Also lots of bugfixes.

  • nicer help for number dialogs
  • fixed a bug with some projections not using 3D (when they were able to) or using 3D (when they were not able to)
  • azimuthal equidistant faster now (implemented on GPU)
  • fixed some bugs related to changing the 3D style
  • fixed the disconnect between scrolling speed and movement speed in Euclidean mode

Yet another bugfix update!

  • fixed a potential crash when reseting OpenGL (might help people who could not run the game?)
  • fixed new humanoid player shapes not displaying the crossbow, and the missiles for new character shapes
  • fixed a bug when saving colortables, causing a crash when loading them (thanks to josephcsible)
  • drawing tool now actually does enable the cheat mode
  • fix pushing an Animated Die saying "You push the Unhappy Die." (thanks to josephcsible)
  • fixed some menus in VR, and the bugh with the walking mode hotkey; added 'build on walls' to the portal construction menu so it is easier to create portals in the air
  • fixed the official races file included in the repo

Yet another bugfix update! A rather big one, with many small bugs.

  • fixed the player Ratlings not having tails
  • fixed the floor graphics in some tilings
  • fixed Clearing in bitruncated {8,3}
  • if a land is only accessible from ones that aren't in-game, it's not in-game
  • the simplified pattern cheat is now disabled when you stop cheating
  • more interesting dice in alt tilings
  • fixed generalized Great Walls (which tended to stop generating from some point)
  • fix unlock_all for land selection
  • Hive no longer requires horocycle support to be generated in other tilings
  • use 'small' generation for arbitrary and Archimedean spherical tilings
  • also fixed a crash in spherical arbitrary tilings
  • made ivy branches look better in alt tilings (they can now adjust to the distances between tiles)
  • fixed the default sizes of stuff in Archimedean pure tilings
  • added official races to the GitHub repo

Improved selection of player shape: four new shapes, save/load customized characters, the character is centered correctly.

  • fixed slaying + discord graphics
  • other active orbs now extend the duration of Orb of Recall
  • fixed CR5 and MCR not appearing in PTM
  • alt unlock condition for CR6
  • fixed the floor graphics in dual tilings
  • finding the music file in some installations should be fixed

This is HyperRogue version 13.1.

This is not really a big update that adds a new land or a major new way to play the game, but more of an "we need to change the minor version number so we won't have to do 13.0ż".

To celebrate the change of the minor version number, two new lands have been added -- however, they are just new Crossroads variants. Crossroads VI is based on Great Walls crossing at 60 degree angles; to give more use out of Orbs of Purity, these crossroads also feature Canyon Hags who can curse you. Master Crossroads is a crossroads that connects only to other crossroads, so if you are in, for example, Crossroads IV but you would prefer to be in Crossroads III, you can try finding the Master Crossroads to switch.
