Week 6
DJ – This week we interviewed DJ Hovermale about the CAT. He is a user/administrator of the program who wants to see the program succeed and become something that can be used as a cyber assessment tool. We learned to perform root cause analysis to figure out how to correct the issues that are currently existing with development and help going forward when new implementations are made. Additionally A feature that was suggested was that if a Higher order task is completed as exceeded expectations, then the sub tasks should automatically marked as completed below them.
Kevin – We also interviewed Kevin about the tool in question. With him we talked about the usage of the tool in a wider variety. We had previously talked to a few contacts that we have known and they stated that this tool would not be of use to them however we learned that we were talking to the wrong people who may be using the tool. We walked through an exercise using a mass casualty training exercise we found online and learned that the tool can be used in this context as it marks all of this data.
The CAT could be applied to a wider range of training/testing throughout the government. Although it has been utilized for cyber exercises, there could be a wider application.
After reviewing the application to validate the issues the beneficiaries had mentioned during the interviews, we have a better insight on how the dashboard and program could be improved.
We took this week as an opportunity to switch from just putting text on the slide to using an actual MMC. The changes that were made were researched based and we corrected some of our beliefs after getting clarifications from some of the people that we interviewed.
