I've been trying to coordinate efforts across the Rust UI ecosystem, and I recently came across your project. I was wondering what the background/history/context of zng is (presumably you're using it for something?), and also what your plans are going forwards. It appears to have a long history of several years, and to be well developed and featureful, but only recently published / open sourced? Perhaps you are planning an announcement sometime soon?
Please don't feel pressured to reveal anything you're not comfortable revealing. But I would love to know more if you're happy to share.
P.S. I am also interested in why you have a fork of webrender (which is how I found zng). Is it just that the base crate wasn't being published frequently enough? Or have you actually made substantive changes? The Servo project is putting more effort into trying to maintain it's crates, so perhaps we can get you back on the upstream version soon?

We(me and my brother) started developing this to learn Rust, we always intended to share this project, we just waited until we where sure that it has a solid useful core before publishing. If we had published the first API design that would have stopped us from experimenting.
I'm not using it for anything serious yet, I intend to use it to replace two closed source WPF/C# apps that I maintain, it is still not good enough for those, but it is close.
To be honest I'm kind of obsessed with developing it, I definitely will continue working on it, close all the 'todo' issues, maybe enable sponsor and see how that goes.
I'm planing to make an announcement in social media soon, maybe after the next release, I need to figure out how to do that.
About Webrender, I only forked to publish, if they start publishing again I definitely would prefer using the original. The only changes I made were to pass the publish checks and the security audit (a false positive). They would also need to start publishing 'swgl', I don't believe they ever did.
