Screenshots/Recordings:

2026-09-27.18-24-17.mp4

Summary

Fills the PictoPy website with real, fully localized content (en + hi) and adds the remaining homepage sections, replacing all placeholder copy and mockup images.

New sections

  • FAQ accordion with animated expand/collapse (About Us scrolls here)
  • Footer: download CTA, link columns (Product / Parent Org / Contribute / Projects / Umbrella Orgs), social icons, copyright bar
  • Interactive "PictoPy" watermark: per-letter spring hover animation
  • Features cards: AI Tagging and Memories, using real app screenshots
  • Testimonial from Dr. Bruno Woltzenlogel Paleo with avatar

Improvements

  • Real app screenshots inside the Mac mockups, with the menu bar color matched to the screenshots and a live locale-aware clock
  • Language switcher redesigned as an animated dropdown next to the logo
  • Navbar links now point to real targets (GitHub docs/contributing) or scroll to homepage sections; every external link carries a ↗ indicator
  • Hero: highlighted lead sentence, "Powered by AOSSIE" link, single-line badge on mobile, smaller mobile title so the mockup is visible above the fold
  • Hover/interaction polish across cards, buttons, and nav; dimmed background grid
  • Wider section spacing; responsive footer (2/3/5 columns)
  • Fixed a Tailwind v4 gotcha where px-based min-[900px]: variants conflict with rem-based breakpoints (documented in AGENTS.md)

Docs

  • README project structure and feature list brought up to date
  • AGENTS.md stack correction (custom theme provider, not next-themes) + new rules
  • Brand.md documents the new screenshot assets

Verification

  • npm run build and npm run lint pass
  • Verified live at mobile (375px), tablet (700px), and desktop (1100–1440px)
  • Verified both locales end to end, light and dark themes, and no console errors

Checklist

Walkthrough

The landing page adds translated feature, FAQ, and footer sections, updates its mockups and navigation, and displays a locale-aware clock. Download links use pinned platform URLs while the latest GitHub release is fetched.

Changes

Landing page and downloads

Layer / File(s) Summary
Release-aware downloads
src/const/const.ts, src/hooks/usePlatform.ts, src/hooks/useDownloadLink.ts, src/components/Download.tsx, src/components/ui/Navbar.tsx
Platform downloads use pinned URLs while release data loads. Matching release assets replace those URLs when available. Download links use the download attribute, and the version bar formats release dates for the active locale.
Homepage composition and mockups
src/components/MockUp.tsx, src/components/MockUpWithDesc.tsx, src/components/MacClock.tsx, src/components/HomePage.tsx, src/components/Hero.tsx, src/components/Metrics.tsx, src/components/ShuffleGrid.tsx, src/components/MacMockDesc.tsx, src/messages/en.json, src/messages/hi.json, AGENTS.md, README.md, public/brand/Brand.md, src/app/[locale]/globals.css
The homepage uses product screenshots and a localized clock in its mockups. The hero, metrics, and spacing are updated. Documentation describes the landing page, theme provider, screenshot assets, and translation and breakpoint guidance.
Translated landing-page sections
src/components/Features.tsx, src/components/Faq.tsx, src/components/Footer.tsx, src/components/FooterWatermark.tsx, src/messages/en.json, src/messages/hi.json
Translated feature cards, FAQ content, footer links, and an animated footer watermark are added. The English and Hindi catalogs contain the corresponding copy.
Navigation and locale controls
src/components/LanguageSwitcher.tsx, src/components/ui/Navbar.tsx, src/components/SocialMediaCTA.tsx
The language selector becomes a custom dropdown. Navigation uses external links and in-page targets, while community cards link to their destinations.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to f60b5

Keyboard users can lose their place when closing the locale menu, and dark-mode mockup labels and the clock are difficult to read. These localized accessibility issues leave bounded, low merge risk; restoring focus and improving contrast is advisable.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 28e29

Downloads remain available when release information cannot be fetched, but that fallback can offer an older installer. No compromised or vulnerable installer was established.

Retained concerns

  • Low · security · inferred: When the release API fails or is rate-limited, the Download section now offers the pinned v1.2.0 installers rather than withholding its links while loading. If a newer release supersedes those installers, an API outage can continue directing visitors to the older version; the fallback has no freshness or withdrawal check.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The fallback-freshness issue is limited to visitors who use the site's installer links while live release selection fails. It does not grant site privileges or change server-side authority, but it can affect downloads across the supported desktop platforms.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — No independently attacker-controlled path to the release metadata was established. The actionable risk shown by this change is stale fallback distribution during API failure, not a verified malicious-download or compromised-release attack.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The browser reads release data from a fixed GitHub repository endpoint. A successful response must be OK, and asset selection checks filename suffixes, but the selected URL is not separately constrained before reaching an anchor. Newly configured external navigation links are fixed GitHub URLs rendered with noopener and noreferrer.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Failed release requests preserve a usable pinned link and permit a later request to retry. Successful release data is cached without an expiry in this module, so a page session does not necessarily observe a subsequent release change.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Give the pinned installer links an explicit update or withdrawal policy, and consider bounding successful-response cache age so release replacements can take effect within a defined period.
  • proposed — Consider checking that live asset URLs belong to the expected repository's release assets before using them as installer links. This addresses an existing trust assumption; it is not evidence that this PR introduced an attacker-controlled URL.

Move the testimonial attribution into the catalogs.

AGENTS.md requires all user-facing strings to use the next-intl catalogs. This rule also applies to the displayed proper name and honorific. Add testimonialAuthor to both locale catalogs with the appropriate localized honorific, then render it with t.

🌐 Web query:

MDN CSS visibility hidden focused element focus behavior

💡 Result:

With `visibility: hidden`, an element **cannot receive focus**—including through keyboard tab navigation. If an element is already focused when it becomes hidden, it loses focus; `document.activeElement` will typically move to another element (often `<body>`). MDN documents the focus restriction, though the exact post-hide focus target can vary by browser. ([developer.mozilla.org](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Reference/Properties/visibility?utm_source=openai))

If you’re hiding a focused control, move focus somewhere appropriate before hiding it, or return focus when it becomes visible again.

Citations:

Restore focus to the trigger when the listbox closes.

The listbox remains mounted but becomes hidden. When the focused option becomes hidden, the browser removes focus from it. Since neither Escape nor selecting the active locale focuses the trigger, keyboard focus can move to the document body instead of the visible control.

Use a higher-contrast text color in dark mode.

The top bar keeps bg-[#171717] in both themes, while dark:text-[#5F6061] applies to its menu labels and clock. This dark-on-dark combination makes the text difficult to read. Use a lighter text color.
