Debian buster comes with CMake 3.13.4 but CMake 3.16.3 or higher is required for Chaste 2024.1. There are a few options to get around this:

  • Install the latest version directly from the Kitware APT repository: Ubuntu only
  • Install the latest version from snap: Ubuntu only
  • Install the latest version with pip: Issues with configuration and dependency resolution
  • Update the base image to debian bullseye (oldstable), which comes with CMake 3.18.4 or debian bookworm (stable) which comes with CMake 3.25.1
