Grouping Neumes

This page gives an description of the various groupings you can produce in Neon.

Distropha : Two notes in succession. Requires: 2 neumes

Tristropha : Three notes in succession. Requires: 3 neumes

Clivis: Two descending notes. Requires: 2 neumes

Cephalicus: This is the liquescent Clivis. Has the same layout of two descending notes. Requires: 2 neumes

Climacus: Three or more descending notes. Requires: 3+ neumes

Climacus β†’ Climacus

Climacus Resupinus: Three descending notes followed by an ascending note. Requires: 4 neumes

Podatus: Two ascending notes. Requires: 2 neumes

Podatus Subpunctis: Two ascending notes followed by two descending notes. Requires: 4 neumes

Podatus Subpunctis Resupinus: Two ascending notes followed by two descending notes and one final ascending note. Requires: 5 neumes

Epiphonus: This is the liquescent Podatus. Has the same layout as two ascending notes. Requires: 2 neumes

Compound: Is a combination of several groupings. There is one common example below but there are many possibilities.
