Welcome to the Coalesce wiki!

Coalesce

Coalesce is a 100% open-source volunteer management platform. Its mission is to make recruiting, onboarding, and managing volunteers as easy as possible. For volunteers, it is made to make finding tasks where you can contribute incredibly simple, allowing you to focus on contributing to the cause that means the most to you.

Charitable and mutual aid organisations invest a significant amount of time recruiting new volunteers and managing data on their existing volunteer base. These organizations often use email and spreadsheets to manage the process. We estimate that it takes 10 hours per volunteer to be recommended to a specific program for our friends at Camden Giving.

Some features you can expect from Coalesce are:

  • 🔍 Easy browsing of existing volunteer opportunities
  • 📢 Register new events & recruit volunteers
  • ☑️ Check in volunteers at live events
  • 🧙‍♀️ Generate reports on volunteer activities

Join this project to set this right and build an open-source solution to streamline this process.

Our software requirements are available at Site Pages, and Data Types section of this Wikki. We focus on two users: the Volunteer and the Organiser (who is creating the task).

In Nov 2020 we hosted our first hackathon online to supported by Camden Giving and Pride in London. Both need a Volunteer Management Platform as their team has been overwhelmed by the brilliant community who want to volunteer during the pandemic. The software we are creating helps recruit and co-ordinate Volunteers as part of Camden Giving’s work with Urban Partners. Partnering with Just Eat Takeaway, we are thankful for all the support and development that the teams provided. Watch our highlights video
