We already have implementation for the prior in https://github.com/PX4/PX4-SITL_gazebo-classic/blob/main/src/gazebo_opticalflow_plugin.cpp Probable we can reuse some parts of it?

I would probably add a dedicated model for optical flow.

you're saying combine range finder and camera? Or a new x500 model?

I'm working on adding optical flow to sim, I could use some help with review/testing. The big tiled image is to provide texture for finding keypoints... need to figure out how to use something simpler.
