Confirmed the federation exposes keys are unchanged, so widgetLayout and the CRD are unaffected.

This file was reformatted from single to double quotes. That isn't a rename, and it no longer matches the repo's single-quote style. It also hides the real path changes in this diff. Consider reverting the quote change.

Fixed both in the amended commit: fec.config.js back to single quotes (the prettier default had reformatted it — the diff is path-changes only now), and engines.node bumped to >=22.12.0 to match the Node 22 the CI and build container actually run.

It is also possible to use a per-browser download hosts using `PLAYWRIGHT_CHROMIUM_DOWNLOAD_HOST`, `PLAYWRIGHT_FIREFOX_DOWNLOAD_HOST` and `PLAYWRIGHT_WEBKIT_DOWNLOAD_HOST` env variables that take precedence over `PLAYWRIGHT_DOWNLOAD_HOST`. ... `PLAYWRIGHT_BROWSERS_PATH` does not change installation path for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
# Browsers
## Introduction
Each version of Playwright needs specific versions of browser binaries to operate. You will need to use the Playwright CLI to install these browsers.
With every release, Playwright updates the versions of the browsers it supports, so that the latest Playwright would support the latest browsers at any moment. It means that every time you update Playwright, you might need to re-run the `install` CLI command.
## Install browsers
Playwright can install supported browsers. Running the command without arguments will install the default browsers.
`
npx playwright install
`
You can also install specific browsers by providing an argument:
`
npx playwright install webkit
`
See all supported browsers:
`
npx playwright install --help
`
## Install system dependencies
System dependencies can get installed automatically. This is useful for CI environments.
`
npx playwright install-deps
`
You can also install the dependencies for a single browser by passing it as an argument:
`
npx playwright install-deps chromium
`
It's also possible to combine `install-deps` with `install` so that the browsers and OS dependencies are installed with a single command.
`
npx playwright install --with-deps chromium
`
See system requirements for officially supported operating systems.
## Update Playwright regularly
By keeping your Playwright version up to date you will be able to use new features and test your app on the latest browser versions and catch failures before the latest browser version is released to the public.
`
# Update playwright
npm install -D @playwright/test@latest
# Install new browsers
npx playwright install
`
Check the release notes to see what the latest version is and what changes have been released.
`
# See what version of Playwright you have by running the following command
npx playwright --version
`
## Configure Browsers
Playwright can run tests on Chromium, WebKit and Firefox browsers as well as branded browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It can also run on emulated tablet and mobile devices. See the registry of device parameters for a complete list of selected desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
## Install behind a firewall or a proxy
By default, Playwright downloads browsers from Microsoft's CDN.
Sometimes companies maintain an internal proxy that blocks direct access to the public resources. In this case, Playwright can be configured to download browsers via a proxy server.
* Bash
* PowerShell
* Batch
`
HTTPS_PROXY=https://192.0.2.1 npx playwright install
`
`
$Env:HTTPS_PROXY="https://192.0.2.1"
npx playwright install
`
`
set HTTPS_PROXY=https://192.0.2.1
npx playwright install
`
If the requests of the proxy get intercepted with a custom untrusted certificate authority (CA) and it yields to `Error: self signed certificate in certificate chain` while downloading the browsers, you must set your custom root certificates via the `NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS` environment variable before installing the browse…[truncated]</excerpt>

## Projects Support
Run different project configurations inside the same project with Test Projects. You can define a list of files and folders that define your projects in `vitest.config` file.
vitest.config.ts
ts
`import { defineConfig } from 'vitest/config'
export default defineConfig({
test: {
projects: [
// you can use a list of glob patterns to define your projects
// Vitest expects a list of config files
// or directories where there is a config file
'packages/*',
'tests/*/vitest.config.{e2e,unit}.ts',
// you can even run the same tests,
// but with different configs in the same "vitest" process
{
test: {
name: 'happy-dom',
root: './shared_tests',
environment: 'happy-dom',
setupFiles: ['./setup.happy-dom.ts'],
},
},

# Test Projects
Sample Project
GitHub - Play Online
WARNING
This feature is also known as a `workspace`. The `workspace` is deprecated since 3.2 and replaced with the `projects` configuration. They are functionally the same.
Vitest provides a way to define multiple project configurations within a single Vitest process. This feature is particularly useful for monorepo setups but can also be used to run tests with different configurations, such as `resolve.alias`, `plugins`, or `test.browser` and more.
## Defining Projects
You can define projects in your root config:
vitest.config.ts
ts
`import { defineConfig } from 'vitest/config'
export default defineConfig({
test: {
projects: ['packages/*'],
},
})`
Project configurations are inlined configs, files, or glob patterns referencing your projects. For example, if you have a folder named `packages` that contains your projects, you can define an array in your root Vitest config:
The filter supports `*` wildcards and `!` exclusions. A project runs if it matches no negated pattern and, when regular patterns are also given, matches at least one of them:
bash
`# run every project except "e2e"
vitest --project '!e2e'
# run every project starting with "unit", except "unit (browser)"
vitest --project 'unit*' --project '!unit (browser)'`
## Configuration
Projects defined with an inline configuration inherit all options from the root-level configuration. This is controlled by the `extends` option, which is enabled by default since Vitest 5.0:
vitest.config.ts
ts
`import { defineConfig } from 'vitest/config'
import react from '@vitejs/plugin-react'
export default defineConfig({
plugins: [react()],
test: {
pool: 'threads',
projects: [
{
// inherits options from this config like plugins and pool
// (`extends: true` is the default)
test: {
name: 'unit',
Nested projects work the same way as projects defined in the root config: inline configurations extend the config that declares them (the `app` config here, not the root one), `extends` paths are resolved relative to it, and its own `globalSetup` is inherited by the extending projects like any other non-root config.
The names of nested projects are prefixed with the name of the config that declares them, so the example above creates the `app (unit)` and `app (e2e)` projects. The `--project` filter matches the prefix as well: `--project app` runs every project of the `app` config, while `--project "app (unit)"` runs only one of them.
To also run the tests of the config that declares `projects`, reference its own config file:
packages/app/vitest.config.ts
ts
`import { defineProject } from 'vitest/config'
export default defineProject({
test: {
name: 'app',
include: ['**/*.test.ts'],
projects: [
// the "app" project runs its own "include" alongside "app (unit)"
'./vitest.config.ts',
{
test: {
name: 'unit',
include: ['**/*.unit.test.ts'],
},
},
],
},
})`
Note that only config files can define nested projects. The `projects` option inside an inline configuration is not supported.

Keep the default test command on the unit project.
vitest run runs both configured projects, including the Storybook project that launches Chromium. A fresh install does not run the required Playwright browser-install command, so npm test can fail before the tests run. The Storybook CI job already installs Chromium and runs test:storybook separately.

Update the declared Node version for the new test tooling.
package.json still permits Node >=15.14.0. Storybook 10 requires Node 20.19+ or 22.12+, and Vitest 4.1.12 requires Node 20+. A contributor using a permitted older Node version cannot run the new Storybook or Vitest commands. Update engines.node to match the supported toolchain. (storybook.js.org)
