v11.1.5
- Status Updates:
- Began review the swim lanes for v11.1.5 this morning - long overdue but just haven't had time to this point
- In my review ... I think we are actually close to having a full set of features to release - so just some fine tuning of details
- I realize that there are very few that would actually use this release but it would be nice to have a fully tested version of REDCap to cover most of our bases for the Rapid Validation project
- Planning to review all of the "Feature Written" column elements sometime this week
- Mintoo X. - asked about Data Access Group (DAGs) feature: may begin work on that feature
- Other Notes:
- Rapid development is now on v13.1.37 LTS due to latest security vulnerability
- RCTF has continued to be easy to move forward on versions without issue thus far - tests keep passing
- Unfortunately, v11.1.5 has fallen out of sync with the Rapid Development project in terms of step definitions
- It can be put back into sync in terms of step definitions -- would take serious effort and I'm not sure it is worth it
- At this point, I think we need to view 11.1.5 feature tests as a "trial run" for the Rapid Development project
- Basically, what we're doing is setting up rough template for what the Manual Test Script Writers (Theresa Baker and Michelle Jones) can use to base their new style of feature tests
- We are also using it to create most of the step definitions and patterns we'll need moving forward
FUTURE PLAN:
- I am planning to loop in the rest of the subcommittee to help on the feature tests for Rapid Development project at some point
- We need to have a stable set of step definitions first. It is too chaotic to try to manage writing features while step definitions are regularly changing and the Manual Test Script writers are, in some cases, identifying steps that need to exist.
- Next Steps:
- Once we have the fully fleshed out v11.1.5 feature tests, I think it would be appropriate for our subcommittee to start looking at the Rapid Development project more closely
- I would like some supporting players to help with, in particular Step Definition development
- I am unsure of specific timing on that. If you are interested in helping on that piece, please contact me.
- Plan would be that I would create an Issue documenting /stubbing the technical requirements for a Step Definition and then someone else could write the JavaScript implementation for it
- Key difference is that the drivers for Step Definition now are the Manual Test Script Writers now because they are identifying what gaps we need to cover
