IT Department Resource Management System (RMS)

📖 Project Overview

IT-RMS is a robust web-based application originally developed for an educational institution's IT department. It was designed to serve as a central hub for managing physical assets (storage), educational resources (classes/students), and administrative tasks.

🎓 Project Status: This system was built to meet specific institutional requirements. It is currently archived and serves as a portfolio showcase demonstrating backend architecture and resource management logic.

• Multi-Branch Support: Manage resources across different physical locations or branches.
• Class & Lab Management: Organize IT labs and training rooms efficiently.

📦 Inventory & Storage

• Smart Storage Tracking: Monitor stock levels of IT equipment.
• Barcode Integration: Uses picqer/php-barcode-generator to create unique barcodes for assets, enabling fast scanning and identification.

👥 User & Student Operations

• Student Database: Manage trainee profiles and class assignments.
• Role-Based Access: Admin dashboard to add, edit, or remove system users.

📊 Reporting & Communication

• Dynamic PDF Reports: Generates detailed asset and status reports using TCPDF.
• Automated Emails: Integrated with PHPMailer for sending notifications and alerts.

📂 Project Structure

The codebase is organized for scalability and maintainability:

• vendor/ - Third-party libraries managed by Composer.
• storages/ - Storage-specific logic and isolated instances.

🔮 Future Roadmap (Migration Plan)

I am currently working on migrating this legacy PHP system to a modern Node.js architecture to improve scalability and performance.

• Backend: Migration from PHP to Node.js (Express.js or NestJS).
• Database: Transition from SQL to NoSQL (MongoDB).
