Status Effects

Tough as Client includes a few client side status effect. Status effects will either give the player some sort of disadvantage, or a way to counter a disadvantage. These are all of the current status effects:


Dehydration

thirst

Dehydration prevents the player from sprinting, and also prevents the player from eating dry foods (With a water value of 4 or less).

This effect will be applied when the player's thirst is lower than 15


Darkness

darkness

Darkness will temporarily darken the player's brightness. Inspired by the 1.19 version of darkness.

This effect can be given when the player has insanity

Drenched

drenched

Drenched will decrease the player's temperature.

This effect can be given if the player is being rained on without an umbrella, or if the player is touching water.


Dysentery

Dysentery will drop the player's thirst faster. The player will also occasionally throw up, putting the player into sneak position. Your water bar will turn greenish-blue when this effect is active.

This effect can be acquired by drinking unsanitary water (Water types)

Hypernatremia

Hypernatremia will rapidly drop the player's thirst. Your water bar will turn whitish-yellow when this effect is active.

This effect can be acquired by drinking ocean/beach water (Water types)


Hyperthermia

Hyperthermia will force the player to drop their items if they hold them for too long. A status message will be sent to the player.

This effect will be applied when the player's temperature goes above 74°. If the player's temperature goes below 60° and 40°, the remaining time will go down faster.

Hypothermia

hypothermia

Hypothermia will randomly stop the player from moving hotbar slots. When an item is "frozen" to the player's hand, a status message will be sent to the player. When active, the player's FOV will decrease.

This effect will be applied when the player's temperature goes below 8°. If the player's temperature goes above 22° and 42°, the remaining time will go down faster.

Insanity

insanity

Insanity is a very complicated effect. It has a maximum amplifier of 4, and each amplifier level will progressively get worse for the player. Each amplifier will have effects from previous amplifiers.

While active, this effect will do various things.

Insanity I

  • Player will receive random status messages.
  • Player will hear random sounds.

Insanity II

  • Player will have the darkness effect applied randomly (10 seconds).

Insanity III

  • Player will occasionally move around uncontrollably.
  • Player's health, hunger, and stats will be hidden.
  • Player will have the darkness effect applied randomly (18 seconds).

Insanity IV

  • Player's selected hotbar slot will randomly change.
  • Player will have the darkness effect applied randomly (25 seconds).
  • Something will be communicating with the player.

When insanity is active, the player will be unable to place light sources.

Most visual effects (darkness, dark vignette, watching) can be hidden using clearsight spectacles

This effect will be applied when the player's sanity is below 40, but will get worse as sanity continues to drop.

  • Insanity I is applied at sanity level 40
  • Insanity II is applied at sanity level 30
  • Insanity III is applied at sanity level 20
  • Insanity IV is applied at sanity level 10

Refreshed

refreshed

When active, refreshed will stop the player's thirst from going down, even if they have dysentery or hypernatremia

Refreshed can be acquired by drinking a potion or cleaned water
