Adds a proof-of-concept plugin that serves Azure AI Voice Live realtime models (gpt-realtime, phi4-mm-realtime) over the existing GET /v1/realtime endpoint using only the HTTP transport plugin hooks. An HTTP-to-WebSocket upgrade is a 101 response plus a hijack of the underlying TCP socket, and HTTPTransportPreHook runs inside the per-request goroutine that owns the connection. WithPluginScope copies the fasthttp RequestCtx into the scoped context's parent while leaving the scoped value map empty, so GetParentCtxWithUserValues returns it unwrapped and the plugin can complete the upgrade itself. It then relays frames to Voice Live in both directions. Models the plugin does not claim return (nil, nil) and reach the native realtime handler unchanged. This is deliberately scoped as a PoC. Short-circuiting at the transport layer means core never sees these connections, so governance, logging, telemetry and cost tracking do not apply; auth still does, since the hook runs after the transport's auth middlewares. The plugin enforces its own connection cap because bfws.SessionManager does not see hijacked sockets. The README records why the Azure provider cannot reach Voice Live (RealtimeWebSocketURL hardcodes /openai/v1/realtime and takes no ctx) and what a production implementation would look like. Tests run a real WebSocket client against a fake Voice Live server through a faithful replica of TransportInterceptorMiddleware, covering both models, provider-prefix stripping, text and binary frame relay, the upstream URL and api-key shape, and fall-through for unclaimed models. A guard test asserts the RequestCtx remains reachable from the plugin-scoped context, since the whole approach depends on it.

…points Addresses review feedback on the Voice Live realtime plugin example. pump bounded reads with SetReadDeadline but left dst.WriteMessage unbounded. A peer that stops reading while it keeps sending refreshes the source read deadline on every successful read, so nothing unblocks the write: the relay goroutine parks forever and holds its activeConns slot, and enough stuck relays make the plugin refuse new clients with 429. Now bounded by a 30s write deadline, matching realtimeWSWriteTimeout in Bifrost's own realtime handler and deliberately far shorter than idleTimeout, since an idle connection is normal and a write that cannot drain for 30s is not. Verified SetWriteDeadline is honoured here: fasthttp/websocket applies it to the underlying conn in Conn.write, which WriteMessage routes through. The remark in transports/bifrost-http/websocket/connection.go that WriteMessage ignores the deadline does not hold for v1.5.12. The endpoint config also accepted http:// and ws://, which buildUpstreamURL rewrote into an unencrypted upstream connection that the api-key header then travelled over. Init now rejects cleartext endpoints outside loopback; loopback stays allowed because local fakes and the tests rely on it, and a bare host already defaulted to wss://. Documents both in the README, along with the requirement to build the plugin against the same core as the target bifrost-http binary, since Go's plugin loader requires exact agreement on every shared package.

Summary
This PR adds a proof-of-concept plugin example that serves Voice Live realtime models (
gpt-realtime,phi4-mm-realtime) over the existingGET /v1/realtimeendpoint anyway, using only the HTTP transport plugin hooks. It is an examples-only change: no core, transport or provider code is touched. The purpose is to establish whether plugin-side realtime is viable at all before committing to a native provider, and to serve as a working reference for the Voice Live wire protocol.
Changes
examples/plugins/voicelive-realtime/— new standalone example module (main.go,main_test.go,go.mod,Makefile,README.md).How it works. An HTTP-to-WebSocket upgrade is a 101 response plus a hijack of the underlying TCP socket, and
HTTPTransportPreHookruns inside the per-request goroutine that owns the connection.WithPluginScopecopies the*fasthttp.RequestCtxinto the scoped context's parent while leaving the scoped value map empty, soGetParentCtxWithUserValues()returns it unwrapped:The plugin completes the upgrade itself, returns
&schemas.HTTPResponse{StatusCode: 101}with nilHeaders/Body(soapplyHTTPResponseToCtxcan only re-set the status and cannot clobber the handshake), and relays frames to Voice Live in both directions from the hijacked goroutine.Type of change

How to test
Expected: all tests pass and the
.sobuilds.Coverage:
TestRequestCtxIsReachableFromPluginScope— asserts the plugin-scoped context still yields the live*fasthttp.RequestCtx. The entire approach depends on this, so it fails loudly if that ever changes.TestVoiceLiveRealtimeProxy— claimsgpt-realtime; relays text and binary frames with message types preserved; claimsazure/phi4-mm-realtimewith the provider prefix stripped; asserts the upstream path,api-version/modelquery params andapi-keyheader; verifies unclaimed models fall through to the native handler; verifies non-realtime requests are ignored.TestUpstreamURLShape— upstream URL construction, includingintentpropagation and scheme defaulting.Manual, against a real Azure resource:

Security considerations
HTTPTransportPreHookruns after the transport's auth middlewares, so a hijacked upgrade is already authenticated by Bifrost.PreRequestHook, which this path short-circuits past, so they do not apply to claimed connections. This is called out in the README and is why the PR is scoped as a PoC rather than a production path. It should not carry billed multi-tenant traffic as-is.*schemas.SecretVar, so it supportsenv./vault.references. The caller's own credential is never forwarded upstream. Log lines strip the query string from the upstream URL.bfws.SessionManager, so the plugin enforcesmax_connectionsitself, plus dial and idle timeouts on both sockets.Originallowlist, defaulting to the library's safe same-host behaviour.RequestCtxviaGetParentCtxWithUserValues()relies onWithPluginScopeleaving the scoped value map empty. That is not a documented guarantee; a guard test catches regressions, and the plugin fails closed with a503rather than passing the request to a handler that cannot serve Voice Live.Checklist
