DAMM Histograms

DAMM Histograms are a data format that is capable of being read by the ORNL Physics Division graphical plotting program called DAMM. This program is currently available as part of the UPAK Analysis Software.

A manual for DAMM is available at http://www.phy.anl.gov/gammasphere/doc/damm.txt.

DAMM requires two input files, and a third is often produced.

  • .his (Required) - Contains the data values for each histograms.
  • .drr (Required) - Provides the structure of the his file.
  • .dir (Optional) - Contains a listing of each histogram id, type, and name.

There exist a number of utility programs to make modifications to DAMM files including:

  • hisadd
