Entity Details Column

Vinzenz Rosenkranz edited this page Dec 14, 2018 · 3 revisions

When an entity in the tree is selected the corresponding form sheet appears in this (the center) column. Form sheets are configured in the Data Model Editor and may vary in matters of the attributes and their arrangement between entity types.

On top of the form sheet is a header bar with information about the entity (entity name, name of the person last edited and when) and buttons to save changes (disabled until attribute values are edited) and delete the entity. By hovering over the entity’s name an edit icon will appear allowing to rename the entity. Behind the name there might be a second icon to indicate, that there are attributes hidden. For more information about hidden attributes, see Dependencies

Below the header bar are the attributes, where you can insert your data. To save the changes, use the green save button in the header bar. If you have unsaved changes and switch to another entity or another view, a popup warns you about the unsaved changes and allows you to either cancel and stay, save the changes and move on or discard the changes and move on.

Certainty & References

For attributes where it is not clear whether a value is correct or not or attributes where you want to prove/justify your decision, Spacialist allows you to set the certainty (in percent) and comment on that certainty. It also allows to add multiple literatures plus descriptions to the attribute, so others can understand your decision.

Note: In order to add references you first need to import or create the citation in the literature tool within the tools tab in the upper right corner of the main UI.

These features are added as a popup to each attribute. Beside the labels are up to three icons.

  1. An exclamation mark: Is always visible. It's color represents the certainty of the attribute's value.
  2. A speech bubble: Is only visible if a comment is added to the certainty.
  3. A book mark: Is only visible if there is at least one reference added.

To save your certainty and comment, click on the Update Certainty button below the comment field. Literature references are saved after a click on + Add Reference.

Hint: All given references can be easily accessed using the references tab in the third column of the UI.

Edit & Delete

The certainty and comment can easily be edited. Simply change the value and click on Update Certainty.

References can be edited and deleted using the three-dot menu on the right side of an entry. The Edit button allows you to edit the reference's description.
