Features
Upon dying, a grave will be generated where you died containing your inventory and experience; this includes compatible mod inventories. And upon retrieving the grave, depending on your retrieval type, the items may be auto-equipped or will simply be dropped.
Please note that some mod inventories do not auto-equip; check the compatibility page for more information about specific mods. Here are answers to a few other questions you might have about grave generation and retrieval:
A: It is safe to remove or add compatible mods at any point in time. Any grave that was generated while a mod was installed will merge said mod's items into the vanilla inventory or drop them on the ground (depending on inventory space).
A: It will automatically set your inventory to what it was when the grave was generated and then add the items you had on you while retrieving the grave back into your vanilla inventory or drop them on the ground (depending on inventory space).
A: If you die outside the world boundaries, your grave will be placed within the world boundaries. For example, if you die below -64 in the Overworld your grave will generate 7 blocks higher than -64 (-57). And if you die above 320 in the Overworld your grave will generate at 318.
A: Graves can be configured to sink in Air, Water, and Lava whilst generating. "Sinking" just means that if you die in any of these mediums the grave will generate on top of the first solid block below where you died. By default, graves only sink in Air and Water but float in Lava. If you'd like to change this functionality, change the Floating config options.
A grave can be crafted using the following recipe:
You can do a few things with crafted graves that cannot be done with generated graves, such as naming them, setting custom heads, and picking them up after breaking them.
By default, graves can only be accessed by the person who owns the grave and people who are operators. This can be changed further using the OP Override Level and Grave Robbing configuration options.
Graves decay over a period of time randomly. There are four stages of decay, as shown here, from left to right:
You can add a single stage of decay to a crafted grave by right-clicking on the grave with a vine or mushroom in hand.
You can remove a single stage of decay by right-clicking on the grave with a shovel in hand. The shovel will receive 1 point of damage, depending on the shovel's unbreaking level and whether you're in creative mode or not.
If you would like to prevent decay, you can right-click on a grave with Honeycomb in hand. The grave will no longer decay.
You can remove the effect of the Honeycomb by right-clicking the grave with a shovel or by breaking the grave (if it's crafted).
By default, items do not decay when the grave decays. You can enable this functionality by adjusting the Item Decay Modifier config option (a higher decay modifier value will result in quicker decaying). If you would like items to be able to be destroyed from decay you will want to adjust the Decay Breaks Items config option as well.
Graves backups are stored on the server and are accessible even if the grave has already been claimed. You can read about the commands to access this functionality here and config options here.
This is intended to allow admins to better manage graves. It enables them to find the graves in the world easily, restore them to players, and delete them (see the destructiveDeleteCommand
option). In addition, regular players can now see a list of their own graves and coordinates as well.
This functionality also acts as a fail-safe in case an issue occurs during grave placement or retrieval.
Crafted Graves can have any mob head or custom player skull added to it by right-clicking the grave with the head in hand.
Crafted Graves can be named in an anvil at the cost of one experience level. The name will display on the headstone.
Grave water-logging functions the same as vanilla. This means that right-clicking a grave with a water bucket in hand or placing the grave in a water source will result in it being waterlogged.
Graves cannot be destroyed by explosions. I may create a config option down the road that allows them to be destroyed, but currently it's not possible.
If you've encountered an issue and would like to report it, please use the issue tracker and provide as much information as you can, thank you!
