mirrors added

I’m sorry gals and guys, but I exceeded my 1GB bandwidth quota after only 15 minutes.

IITC Mobile: mirrors have been added and it should work fine as long as you can download it.

IITC Desktop: I have an offer for vanilla IITC that should provide everything needed, but it’ll take time to set up. The download links for the script should work and provide you with basic features. Some images may not load. I’ll post updates to bug #441.

IITC Mobile (IITCM)

The mobile app is mainly intended for smartphones. It works on tablets and provides the standard desktop UI, which works pretty well. The tablet version is low priority and no patch that impacts the experience on smartphones will be merged.

I don’t have the manpower to both maintain IITC and develop the mobile app. Please contribute and ask interested friends to do so, too. You don’t need to be a programmer to help: adding more details to a bug report, like steps on how to reproduce the problem, are a huge help.

Feel free to share the app, but point people to the reporting problems section, so the descriptions will be helpful. Preferably talk them into contributing to the project :).

Goals:

  • provide basic intel
  • help orientation in the field
  • easy to use
  • fast

Non-Goals:

  • planning, strategic tools.
  • data aggregation
  • becoming a toolbox for everything

How do I…?

  • Login: Starting from 0.2 the login should show up in the middle of your screen. Just hit the login button and enter your details on the common Google Login page.
  • Clear Data/Cache: Open app launcher and find the IITCM icon. Press-and-hold and then drag it to “App Info” on the top right of the screen. There’s a “clear data” and “clear cache” button.
  • Logout: Not possible from within the app. See Clear Data/Cache and use “clear data”.
  • Reload: Menu → Reload IITC.
  • “Your account has not been enabled to play Ingress“: See Reload.
  • Install: The easiest way is to scan the QR-code (need a good app for that?) and to download it with your browser. It should ask you to allow installation from outside the play store automatically. After that, you should be able to install the app easily.
  • Update: You can check if there’s a new APK build by looking at our file server. The filenames contain the date and time an APK was built and the latest file is the same as the one with the newest date. The app does not auto-update itself. APK build date and IITC build date are the same, i.e. you are using an IITC nightly version. IITC is bundled with the app, so if you don’t update the APK manually from time to time you will never get updates.

Download APK

this is alpha quality software. It eats external battery packs for breakfast, so beware.

For known bugs and other shortcomings, please [see the IITCM Roadmap](IITC Mobile Roadmap). It requires Android 4.0+, regardless of what the APK says it supports. Support for older Android versions is not going to be added.

Mirrors, latest version:

I don’t have control over some of the mirrors, so please verify you got the correct APK before installing:

md5sum ed2304fc7f6aeb38b114329d2eca93e0 IITC-Mobile-latest.apk
sha1sum 86f004da8d3490172bc28a680d7871361ce0a17c IITC-Mobile-latest.apk

Remove the filename to see a list of previous builds.

If you download from iitcm.code-noobs.org, the md5sum and sha1sum will not match, because this apk will be updated more often. The server can be seen as official source.

Current version: v0.2. It should load a lot faster now. See [see the IITCM Roadmap](IITC Mobile Roadmap) for other fixes included in v0.2.

Note that the APK file is basically a specialized browser that loads the Ingress Intel Map and injects IITC. The App bundles the latest [nightly version](Nightly Builds), so the included IITC version is never updated unless you manually re-install. IITCM is currently not automatically build, meaning there is no nightly version available. It’s currently hard to tell which IITC version is used by IITCM.
