  • Female brown mouse

  • G6f in layer 2/3

  • DOB 9-14-14

  • Implanted with 5 mm implants on 9-14-14

  • Experimental days

    • 07/07/2015 : Mouse was given 1 block all go trials for 20 min, no lick necessary and 1 blocks of 40 min of go trials with lick necessary for reward delivery. The mouse was not positioned well on the ball so locomotion was not detected accurately. Second mouse on the setup in this experiment run. We checked lick detector and therefore the 40 min block was initially splitter in many small trials. The last trial was properly set up with 40 min long session. Mouse proved to be well aware of its licking capabilities initially but lost interest as it became satiated.
    • 07/08/2015 : Mouse was given two blocks of 30 min, all go trials, with lick necessary. We need to check lick detector with this mouse. It seems that one drop of water centered on implant is necessary to make it to work and conduct current from implant to water tube but still not entirely sure. Check mice implant tomorrow for deposit around contact points. Otherwise is doing well. It is walking a lot and licking constantly.
    • 07/09/2015 : Mouse was given 2 blocks of 30 min with go+no go trials 100 % contrasts with air puff and time out on no go trials. time out8s. We had trouble with visual screen stimulus at the beginning, distance to screen was set to empty by mistake. As a result first trials were cancelled quickly to solve the problem. We first restarted the computer and therefore lost some time with the mouse head-fixed.
    • 07/10/2015 : Mouse was given 2 blocks of 30 min with go+no go trials 100 % contrasts with air puff and time out on no go trials. time out 8s. We had lick detection problems again at the end of the second block. Something is not conductive in this mouse. Next session, we will work on adding a cream or lube that does not dry out to ensure conductivity all through out the session. We will also go back to a full go session to make sure the mouse is not confused.
    • 07/11/2015: Started by testing the lick detector (works ok). Mouse was given 2 blocks of 30 min with go+no go trials 100 % contrasts with air puff and time out on no go trials. time out 8s. Despite adding soap, the lick detector stopped working in the middle of the first block very briefly. I added more water and the mouse started his regular behavior again. At the end of the second block, I tested the lickometer again and it wasn't working. From my observations, the mouse also didn't lick duirng the second block, but the licometer problem early on might have caused that.

Despite adding soap, the lick detector stopped working in the middle of the first block very briefly. Same behavior as day before, as if lick detector stopped working during first block. I added a piece of wet paper to keep contact just before the beginning of the second block.

      Second block was go+no go - 20min
third block was 10 min WITH air puff out of response window. Mouse doesn't seem to care about air puff fourth block was 20 min WITH air puff. I moved air puff closer. 20 min long
