    • 07/07/2015 : Mouse was given 1 block all go trials for 20 min, no lick necessary and 2 blocks of 20 min of go trials with lick necessary for reward delivery. Because of software, behavior traces were not automatically saved but saved in a different file called LostTraces. First mouse on the setup in this experiment run.

    • 07/08/2015 : Mouse was given 2 blocks of 30 min with all go trials, lick necessary. It did well, with more than 350 responded trials.

    • 07/09/2015 : Mouse was given 2 blocks of 30 min with go+no go trials 100 % contrasts with air puff and time out on no go trials. Mouse is obviously confused by the change. For second block, we increase time out from 3s to 8s. As it was advantageous for him to lick timing wise. Block 1: Hits 72% FA 62 % Block 2: Hits 54% FA 46 %

    • 07/15/2015 We started the day by giving the mouse trials with go + no go 100% contrast with air puff and time out on no go trials. The reward delay was set to 0.5 sec. In the very first Go trials, the mouse licked only during the presentation of the stimulus and was thus not given the reward. Afterwards, he didn't lick at all. For a couple of trials, we gave him manual rewards after the response cue during the go trials, and left the mouse to figure out the new rule. His strategy is to stop licking rather than explore and be punished.Because after ~12 min the mouse is not responding, we stopped the block and gave him 5 min of the same trial structure, with the exception that Go trials did not need a lick before reward delivery. We were hoping that the mouse will understand that the reward comes 0.5 sec after the go stimulus, and that licking during Go stimulus is not necessary. After this 5 min session, we gave the mouse 5 min session with the Go trials needing a lick (so the same trial structure we tried at the beginning). Show block 1 (5 min) : Hits 96% FA 0%

Mouse doesn't lick at all. Again, did a few trials with Go only, no lick necessary. Mouse licked immediately after those trials but dropped off immediately. After another 10 min of no licking, I took him out to run him tonight again.

    • 07/25/2015 gave mouse some free rewards. initially he didn't even drink the water. eventually he drank the water but did not engage in the task. he had a couple of more free rewards before making any response and engaging in the task. 3 20 min blocks. first & second 20 min block, go +nogo 100% contrast, air puff and TO on no go trials. reward delay 0.5 sec. reward 0.06 duration. during the second block, the mouse briefly stopped responding but started again after a few free rewards. third block, introduced air puff punishments for random licks. the mouse licks almost always only at the tone, he's very good at holding off licks.towards the end of the third block he was a bit confused about when to lick in go trials.

    • 07/26/2015 I had to "boot up" his behavior. First I gave some free reward. THan I gave some free reward during go trials with the right temporal structure. Then I asked him to lick with only go Trials and then I introduced the no go trial again. random licks with air puff for block 1 and 2. Quickly rebooted again between block1 and 2 with few free rewards and a few trials of only go. This mouse needs to be started apparently to reactivate its context. Time out for block 3. Mouse is "Extremely" good at holding its lick. It found a way to move its jaw during the visual stimulus so as to maintain its response but not licking. Very interesting behavior. It's VERY important not to have any delays between blocks as it seems this mouse need time to get into the behavior.
