Standup Notes 2018 08 16
Participants (alphabetical): Conor, Erik, Jen, Kevin, Kushal, Mike, Mickael
Conor (will miss standup today)
Yesterday: Began review of workstation PRs; not yet finished
Today: Mostly meetings and hiring tasks, hope to approve one or two PRs by EOD
Blockers: None directly, although hardware QA comes to mind for other members of the team.
Other: Given the struggles with the hardware QA, and Kev's PTO schedule during QA, let's take a break from the remote access and use the 1U servers to test a full install of the latest develop, which importantly includes a new kernel. Would nominate Freddy for that work (since Kev cannot access remotely).
Yesterday: Mostly hiring related-work - relevant to SecureDrop, exploring some contracting possibilities for UX help
Today: More hiring, UX wiki clean-up
Blockers: None
Yesterday: Worked on CI stuff for tbb 090 branch, started looking at time.sleeps - will fade into the bushes now that Kushal is on it. Went to the hackathon, that was good. Nice contributions, ja added to Weblate
Today: Connecting with Josh on qrexec service
Blockers: None
Yesterday: Worked on support issues, docs related to molecule virtualenvs. Questions I'll follow up later - using different languages in source and journalist interface.
Today: Continuing on ^^
Blockers: Hardware stuff is a bit of a blocker, but not immediately impacting work
Yesterday: Had a meeting with localization lab + Loic and Weblate maintainer. How to translate and do review. Got introduced to their Mattermost. Having meeting with localization lab folks next week. They asked me to be PoC for translators. Started removing time.sleeps, will be pushing WIP branch. Reviewed CI fix.
Blockers: None
Yesterday: Got tests passing for containerized functional testing branch. Merged Jen's branch this morning. Tests are green. Still having issues running functional tests locally against remote server. Did make a follow-up issue: we should add a VNC service to the container, so you can watch browser running live. Would propose to switch to that.
Today:
Blockers:
Yesterday: Was doing non-SD work, starting review on reply-refactor, should finish today.
Today:
Blockers:
- Freddy to test develop+latest kernel on hardware -- Mickael to update apt-test
- SecureDrop workstation should use Debian-based VMs, speak now if you disagree: https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-workstation/issues/111
- Functional testing VNC improvements - prioritize above other fixes, because it enables them
