Pretzel is an open-source web application platform to display and interactively navigate complex genetic datasets.
Currently (2020-) funded and developed by Agriculture Victoria, Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR), Victoria, Australia.
Previously (2016-2020) funded by the Grains Research Development Corporation (GRDC) and co-developed by Agriculture Victoria and CSIRO, Canberra, Australia.
The volume of data produced for analysis by researchers is increasing regularly. While automated techniques provide a steady baseline of insights to datasets, the role of the researcher is paramount to drive research and development. Pretzel provides an environment to traverse complex genetic datasets, and expedite research outcomes.
The core of the Pretzel application is a flexible visualisation engine to manipulate genetic data. Pretzel can be run locally on your own machine, or launched on a server for use by multiple researchers.
A longer-term goal is for each Pretzel platform to optionally act as a data warehouse for other Pretzel platforms, fostering increased collaboration and data sharing.
