Session 16: Epigraphy and Linked Data

Convenors: Gabriel Bodard (University of London), Tom Elliot (New York University)

Outline

The current session focuses on digital representations of epigraphic texts, the means through which we can construct open access, linked resources and what the online platforms represent for epigraphic scholarship. While EpiDoc is considered the standard for encoding epigraphic texts (besides the mark-up of the text, it offers a complete description of an inscription and its context, in a machine readable and format), each online repository has its own structure, data identification and querying system, adapted to various practical and scientific needs and requirements.
