In the first part we report about a 3-session workshop conducted in Allameh Tabataba’i University in Tehran, Iran, in October 2017 to test the treebanking method in translating Greek texts into New Persian. The students participating in the workshop were beginners in classical Greek, as their extra course, and almost without any good knowledge of the language. I had to explain two treebanks designed in Digital Classics Club hosted at Tufts of a paragraph of Plato (Sym.: 210e-211a). The link to the treebanking could be found here
In the second part of the session, available translations from Ancient Greek to Persian will be outlined. Then following the introduction of Perses (an online Ancient Greek course for Persian speakers), complications of Teaching and learning Ancient Greek in Persian with their possible solutions will be discussed.
