why not think about redistribution through fiscal policy? (dr. Stephens suggest I look at actual calculations of where redistribution happens, and implies that a lot would happen in spending) my problem with this is: it may be true, but it's minimal about what the welfare state should do. That's not good. also, there's the problem of how to finance this; if you rely on VAT or payroll (the only remaining really), you're doing redistribution within the middle and lower class.
