Doctoral Colloquium 23. Juni 2014

Present:

  • Matthias Wingens
  • Christopher Cohrs
  • Melis Uluğ (PhD student of Dr Cohrs)
  • Field B

Christopher Cohrs:

  • It's unclear whether beliefs, values and preferences should really be rolled up in one q-sort
  • Condition of instruction might need further clarification, is important (but seems ok the way it was)
  • clarify exactly what meta-consensus would mean; the statistics are yet unclear.
  • there is no need to be secretive about the goals of the research; that's not q.
  • People should know what the research is about.
  • Read this: webler, talin, tular & Daniels as an introduction to Q method

I was unable to find this

  • As a plan B, notice that you can also look simply at the corellation matrix, with fewer n, without factor extraction

Matthias Wingens:

  • it's sad that there is so little time to look exactly into the process of what is happening

yup; I think this works for a meta-substantive standard of deliberative democracy, though.

  • compares idea that "if it's in q, it has to be true" to Albertus Magnus on the Council of Konstanz: if there is consensus, that indicates the presence of god.
