Minor Factions
The Independent Colony Coalition(ICC):
The ICC is less of a rebellion, more such a victim of circumstance. While politically jaded with Solgov, the ICC declared itself an independent entity just due to how far it's colonies are from the core system of Sol. With the prospect of navy or humanitarian aid weeks, if not months away in the event it's needed. The Coalition has a strained relationship with Solgov at best and is unofficially recognized by other states.
The Alliance between the Tajaran and Teshari species was good fortune born of cosmic circumstance. The chance of two sapient, highly social, pre-FTL species within such close proximity flies in the face of the Fermi Paradox, yet the circumstances of both species seem to be the anomoly, not the rule.
In a galaxy of much larger neighbors of questionably matching ethics, both species formally came together as a strong shared-citizenship alliance.
Many political blocs and lobbying groups make up Solgov's representive government. The NZR is a collection of heavily socialist colonies and systems who lobby and support for more pro-socialism changes from within, often meeting only limited success.
Prime Directive is either seen as a humanity supremacist or ecological collective, depending who's asked. Based off a centuries old media trope as their name and motto, Prime Directive makes it their mission to lobby for reforms in Solgov's diplomatic branch using past first-contact mistakes or oversights as ammunition to return protectorate species back to 'how they were' and support an isolated humanity and Solgov.
A transhumanist cult dedicated to immortality and welfare to all dressed in a latin and abrahamic motif, the Children of Mekhane were unheard of until a few years ago. Coming to impoverished and rural colonies and habitats offering food, shelter, medical aid, technical help, and immortality - all for free. While most viewed this with suspicion the cult grew very quickly into the popular movement it is now. However their 'miracle technology' is almost totally unexplained, even by their own members. This has lead the cult's medical devices and treatment being unapproved of by most major governments and medical boards as it's not gone past standard testing trials, while membership to The Cult of Mekhane is not illegal except in Dominion space. Most of their technology is banned for installation and use and the cult itself faces persecution most everywhere they set up sects. Popular support by the public however has kept the jackboot of Solgov and other bodies in check so far.
While many members are outright ignorant to just the cult's origins and resources. Those who were part of it's founding or trusted enough know of the wealthy circle of elites funding it, and it's bleeding edge R&D team. This and many other secrets of the cult they dare not reveal, if the stories of 'excommunicated' members are anything to go by.
The Lazarus foundation is an independent, non-profit research trust that both donates, lobbies and conducts their own work into controversial research topics that they feel is a benefit to sapient life regardless of social barriers. Many accredited scientists openly show support or directly help for the foundation.
With the spread of Soul Crypts in the past two decades proving sapient minds can be converted to digital data, a small but vocal research lobbying firm sprung up with one goal in mind, to cross the barrier from body to digital living. However far-fetched this goal and those who support it, their main is still the Galaxy's harsh anti-forking laws.
As all species expand out to claim new worlds and systems, new life will always be found. The XAP's goal is to document everything found, no matter who discovers it. While they do preserve some live samples, this itself is not their main goal.
While on the front a 'legitimate' mining conglomerate, the LHMC is a host for all sorts of ugly activities from extortion to drug smuggling. While their main profit is in asteroid and planet mining rights, just how they aquire them is rarely 100% legal.
The cult of Mekhane is hardly a unified religious group, it's no surprise such a secretive transhumanist cult inspired much more violent splinter factions within itself. Named after the secret 12 trials or rites new 'crusaders' go through to be inducted, Twelve Rites is a terrorist and criminal faction that claims to see it's true enemy are the larger state bodies such as Solgov or the Dominion that must be confronted sooner rather than later. Mekhane spokes officials have declared no ties to Twelve Rites and happily excommunicate those who show sympathy to them.
Translated to “Those That will Rule the Future” in Galcom, Qer'Gila is the long descendants of a 'lost' lineage from before Skrell even were space capable. Now a criminal empire most infamously known in Skrellian space, they've made recent attempts to get into other 'markets' in the galaxy regardless of who's in them. While wild rumors circulate just how much firepower they have, most of their 'distasteful' work is done by disposable and deniable contractors.
A completely ironic, tongue-in-cheek name. The Luddites are a hacktivist group that make 'corrupt' corporations and governments their target for blackmail, exposure and network attacks. Taking claim for millions of credits in damage in the past few years, both Solgov and the Skrellian government are intent to root out what they claim are 'glorified terrorists'.
Mockingly known as the Unathi's backyard extremists. The Redeemers are a relic of Moghes and the Unity's past bloody history - a warrior school that feels the Unity has lost it's way and become too accepting of The Unmaker's plots through other species. While they most often attack other states and corporations, they've been known to strike at Unathi communities and leaders they feel are 'less pious ' than is acceptable.
One of the Galaxy's most infamous firearm engineers, almost 90% of DSS' models are 'inspired' from other, more successful company's models. DSS' motto has often been refereed to as 'firepower over ergonomics' which heavily reflects their Vulpakin ownership. What's less known about DSS however is their undocumented gun deals with criminals, terrorists and the syndicate market. Not to mention their corporate espionage into other firearms companies.
The story of a political bloc turned terrorist cell, The Oberth Republic - better known as the OBR is began as a slow boiling bio-conservationism movement within the Röntgen-Oberth system. Born from a populist-economic political movement that first pushed to limit full synthetic and positronic labor rights in reaction to a stressed economy with skyrocketing unemployment rates. However any system-local legislative wins were quickly overruled by Solarian Federal Courts. Frustrations had finally come to a head when the Oberth Labor Union - now declaring itself the OBR attacked several cities within Tau Ceti in a declaration of secession from the United Terran Systems. Despite order being restored eventually the movement remains and is now officially recognized as a terrorist organization. The OBR's original stance on synthetic minds and bodies has shifted to more extreme takes blaming Mekhane, the Soulcrypt and other post-human advances as the source of lower class worker's woes that need repealed.
