Agenda

Notes

The group continued to discuss how a "Fetch URL" would be used on the content launch line to obtain an Authentication token for the LMS.

Chris Handorf raised the issue of how content would deal with "Token Expiration". The concern would be that if a content session lasted a very long time, that learner data would be lost of if the token expired before the learner completed the session.

The notion of a "keep alive" or a "refresh" for expiring tokens was extensively discussed.

Ultimately the group agreed that the LMS should handle token expiration.

The group also agreed that the "Fetch URL" should only have a one-time use for security purposes.

To address the issue Chris raised for "how the content would know what to do" - Bill McDonald suggested using the "Launch Data" (configurable in the course structure) to set a variable that the content could read in the State API after startup to determine the timeout interval and what to do. This would be implementation dependent but would be configurable (and more interoperable)
