Notes
Group Actor Support for cmi5 - Use Case Scenarios
The group continued its discussion on group actor support for cmi5.
1. Group Actor Properties
- “Identified Group” - Explicitly NOT Anonymous Group
- Array of Agent Objects – That follow existing cmi Actor definition (agent, homepage, etc.)
2. Allowed Statements for (Learner) Actor (agent)
- No changes needed (except for a allowing for different actor)
3. (high level) cmi5 Spec Changes
- Section 8.0 launch Mechanism
- 8.1.3 actor
- 10.0 xAPI State Data Model (“agent” vs “actor”) – there is a question of whether xAPI allows Group Actors for Document API’s – need to check with IEEE API committee for spec changes under ballot.
4. Use Case #2 was revisited as follows:
Use Case #2 – Display AU for Learners Classroom Setting (with Individual Learner actions)
Scenario: Learners taking a course (together in a classroom). An instructor launches an AU from the LMS to show the class a learning presentation. Same as #1 except that individual learner actions in a class can be recorded as cmi5 (allowed) statements.
- Learners are enrolled in the course (Outside the scope – LMS specific)
- Instructor takes learner attendance for the class (Outside the scope – LMS specific)
- Membership for the Group Actor is determined
- Instructor launches the AU to experience it with the class
- Cmi5 launch mechanism with a Group Actor
- Learners “show up and watch” but their individual participation in class activities is recorded
- Individual Learners ask/answer questions
- Individual learners are as tasked by the instructor to demonstrate their knowledge or skill for a given topic/task
- These Learner specific actions are recorded by cmi5 allowed statements (actor is agent)
- The AU records data for Group Actor (complete, etc.)
