Notes
Group Actor Support for cmi5
The group discussed how the cmi5 specification could be changed to support group actors. Currently cmi5 actors are restricted to "agent" actors (individual learners) only and there is need to track group activities (e.g. "classes") in LMS systems.
cmi5 spec changes that would make group actors possible/useful:
- Allow actor to be a group (launch and cmi5 defined)
- Allow actor to be different than the launch actor for cmi5 allowed statements
Implications:
- Needs to be simultaneous
- A “course” is either "all group" or all individual (agent) since the registration is tied to the course and the actor.
Possible Scenario - Group of people doing the same activity:
- Actor provided as group (on launch line) – used for all cmi defined statements
- cmi5 allowed statements – can be sent for each agent/individual's specific actions
- Statements can be grouped together by Registration for easier reporting.
- xAPI 2.0 – will have “contextAgents” and “contextGroups” which will make cmi5 group actor support more useful.
